I have spent several years sharing my thoughts on “Gray Divorce”. The topic has certainly been ripe in the media; everything from Bill Gates divorce to the “Golden Bachelor”. Perhaps the latter is not the best example but bear with me. Even with all of this out in the public domain, I still get some puzzled looks from people so here are some basics.
“Gray divorce” refers to the increasing number of couples aged 50 and above who are choosing to end their marriages. As life expectancy increases and societal norms evolve, many older couples find themselves reevaluating their relationships and seeking fulfillment in their later years. In certain situations, people recognize they have deep-seated intimacy issues that were buried from recognition and attention while children were at home. Gray divorce, however, brings unique challenges that require careful planning and expert legal advice.
